Turn a Slow Night into an Author Night
Midnight Carnival puts indie authors in taprooms, bookstores, coffee shops, and bookstores around central Indiana and the Chicago area.
How it works
You give us floor space for a few hours on an evening that's usually quiet. We bring in local authors. They show up with displays, books and their own point-of-sale.
They sell books. You sell drinks, coffee, food — whatever you sell. Nobody takes a percentage of anybody.
We handle recruiting the authors, building the lineup, briefing them on load-in, and promoting the event. You tell your regulars it's happening. That's the whole arrangement.
What's in it for you
A reason to come out. An event gives your regulars a reason to pick that night, and gives you something to post about. Weeknights or weekends are eligible. Events can be large or small depending on lead time.
New faces. Every author brings their own readers. Six authors means six small audiences you've never reached, walking into your room and buying a drink while they browse.
A hook for a launch. If you've got a seasonal release, a new roast, an anniversary — an author night turns it from an announcement into an occasion.
Content. You'll come out of the night with photos worth posting, and every author will post from your room and tag you.
What we need from you
Floor space for authors, out of the traffic flow
Tables, if you have them — otherwise we'll sort it out
Permission for authors to sell their own books on site
Assistance promoting the event on social media and inside the venue.
Our specialty is the weird, wild and scary
Midnight Carnival is a genre fiction collective, and our events reflect that.
Science fiction. Horror. Fantasy. Paranormal. Mystery.
This means our books have a spine. If you are interested in hosting an event that ties into the dark, strange and fun, we can help.
